So you want to be a Softball Umpire?

2024 Dates


Thank you for your interest in the Western Maine Board of Federation Softball Umpires. We are the board that services high schools and junior high schools from Kittery to Freeport to Bridgton to Fryeburg. If you would like to do summer rec ball as well or instead of, you must join USA Softball (see contact information below). To do that, see the information below.

To join this board you must:

1) Pay your dues of $25.00 (download the 'New Umpire Form' for more information)

     Register online with USA Softball: https://registerusasoftball.com/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx

2) Attend the Mandatory Clinic on, Sunday, March 17

3) Attend three other clinics (see list below)

4) Take an on-line test


Clinic Dates 2024


All clinics will be Hybrid.

Can attend in-person or via video conference using Zoom

In-Person will be at the Gorham Municipal Center (3/17 @ Gorham Middle School)

    Required for ALL umpires

Note:   Fees for the 2024 season:      Varsity: $92.00   All Sub-varsity: $69.00               Sub-varsity alone: $103.50

                1 1/2 times for games alone             46 cents a mile No mileage under a 5 mile radius

Directions to  Gorham  Municipal Center:

In all cases below, enter the building under the recreation sign and proceed upstairs


Entering Gorham on Rt. 114 from Rt. 22:

After turning on Rt. 114 take a left at Morrill Ave. This is the street to Gorham High School

Take the first right on Ball Park Rd.

Right into the parking lot after Sylvan Rd.


From Gorham village (Rt. 114 & 25) by Amato’s:

Proceed on Rt. 114 towards Scarborough

Take the right on Morrill Ave. This is the same street to Gorham High School

Take the first right on Ball Park Rd.

Right into the parking lot after Sylvan Rd.


Entering Gorham on Rt. 202:

As you enter Gorham, after going around the traffic circle for the bypass, take the 2nd right onto Access Rd. This the street to Gorham High School

Follow it to the end going by Robie Park (where Gorham High School plays softball)

Enter the parking lot
